CHEYENNE – The Wyoming House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday that would create a new statewide school safety tip line.
Senate File 97, which has already cleared the Senate, passed the House on a 39-17 vote.
The proposal will be cost-neutral since it would only transfer positions and money to the state attorney general’s office to staff the tip line.
The proposal comes as state officials have repeatedly said the current WeTip hotline that the state has used since 2007 is ineffective and rarely used.
A similar bill failed its introduction vote in the House earlier in the session. But SF 97 is different since it doesn’t specify what new tip line would replace the WeTip hotline.
